It’s apparently a ‘95 with the Lt1. It’s also very awesome that they’re using a 20 year old car on daily patrol. The guy who drives this one must be a Jalop.
Such awesome, completely uncharacteristically cool cars these things are.

I wonder how many miles are on it?

Probably not that many, from the pictures it looks like it’s in really good shape.

Some departments like to keep cars until the wheels fall off. Bet this one got rotated out of the primary fleet at some point, maybe in a flush year when they were able to buy one more car than usual, but was still in decent shape, so they kept it around as a backup car. I’d be willing to bet it wasn’t used for routine purposes much beyond maybe the first 5-6 years of its life, and has been relatively lightly used since then.

It says it used to be used for parades and special events, and then I’m guessing a patrol officer claimed it as his and went from there. They even stuck a newer lightbar on there, I’m pretty sure it’s more than just keeping it as a backup car.
Looks like the guy who uses it takes really good care of it though.

I was wondering whether 20 years was too new for a show/parade car, but it is still 20 years after all.
Other than the transmissions, those B-bodies were fantastic cars, far superior to the Panthers. I think there’s got to be a handful still in use in small towns around the country.

Yeah, haha. There’s an overwhelming amount of comments saying how awesome the Caprices were in the comments of that first link so I’d imagine that a lot of people enjoyed seeing them around.
As much as I love Panthers, I love the Caprices twice as much. Faster, better looking and much more than just that. I’m sure that there’s a few around the country still though.

We still have a 90s bronco in service in my town
It’s strange because it’s not like I live in Montana or something. I live 20 minutes from philly in a very modern upscale community.
I guess some things just work forever
